Mallard Cove Golf Course

You are now at the website of one of the best municipal golf courses in Southwest Louisiana. Thank you for visiting with us. This golf course has been owned and operated by the City of Lake Charles since opening in 1976 and has been recognized for excellence by Golf Digest magazine.
We opened a brand new clubhouse facility in July of 2009. The cost of this project was over $1.7 million and encompasses over 11,500 sq. ft. It is a very special project that we are proud to show off. Hurricane Rita damaged the clubhouse in 2005 beyond repair. We waited for over 3 ½ years to see this project completed. It is a grand structure for a municipal golf facility that features a southern flavor with a craftsman style. It is very inviting, comfortable, and is a wonderful asset for our golf operations. You will definitely enjoy the new amenities to complement your round of golf!
Guest lockers are available at low daily rates if you want to bring a change of clothers and a shower towel with you. While you are here, be sure to take a look at our
hole-by-hole description page,
daily rates page and
calendar of events.
Mallard Cove is a championship layout design with Women's tees, Senior tees, Medium tees and Championship tees. The course features 25 large bunkers and water hazards coming into play on 12 of the 18 holes. The Championship course rating is 73.0 and the slope is 128. We are host to all of Lake Charles' City Championships and many other local fundraising golf events, including the annual Summer Shoot-out Series.

We are located at 4300 Mallard Cove Dr, near the Chennault International Airpark, which is accessible from Legion St. You will find the Legion St exit off of the I-210 loop less than 2 miles south of I-10 in Lake Charles. Mallard Cove is consistently rated by Golf Digest as a 3 1/2 star course and listed as a Best Places To Play. We were included in the America's Best Top 100 Public Access Courses in 2004.

Our mission is to provide the citizens of the Lake Area and visitors the best possible facility and services needed to enjoy the game of golf at the most reasonable cost to the players. We welcome many Texas visitors every year who also enjoy the casinos in the Lake Area. Other area golf courses include: Gray Plantation (semi-private), Lake Charles Country club (private), Contraband Bayou (Casino), and Pine Shadows (public). We encourge all visitors to come and see us to enjoy a round on our premier public golf course!
