Matthew Vezinot has been a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. Matthew graduated from Lagrange High School and attended McNeese State University. He also served in the US Army and the Louisiana National Guard during Desert Storm. 

Matthew started his career with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office in 1992 and has served in numerous positions and retired as a Commander in 2025, where for twenty years he managed hundreds of personnel, numerous different departments and millions of dollars of taxpayers funds. After serving over three decades of public service he has had the opportunity to serve on the Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Area Maritime Security Committee, and he represented the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Sub Committee for the Growth and Opportunity Task Force.

He is also a 2007 graduate of the FBI National Academy. In 2001, following the 9/11 attacks, Matthew volunteered for security duty in New York City at Ground Zero.

Matthew and wife Stacey have two Daughters-Meagan(husband Jordan) and Molly(husband William), and three grandchildren.  He and his wife attend Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church.

Matthew's goals as a New Lake Charles City Councilman are to help bring common sense to local government. He plans on being the go-to guy for his district and the whole city, helping it reach its full potential.
