The City of Lake Charles and Louisiana Crossroads will bring audience and artists together as they present Dash Rip Rock & The Swingin' Haymakers in a live broadcast at 7 p.m., Thursday, February 17, at Central School Theater. The program will air via National Public Radio affiliate KRVS, simultaneously streaming audio worldwide via krvs.org.
Bill Davis burst onto the Louisiana music scene more than a quarter century ago fronting the barn burning trio Dash Rip Rock. The flip side to that blazing rockabilly-fueled musical coin can be found in the more acoustic and trad-country oriented Swingin' Haymakers, fronted by vocalist Kim Roberts with Davis on guitar. This special double-header will celebrate the release of the latest Dash album and offer a few glimpses down the quieter musical roads less taken.
Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.louisianacrossroads.org or at the Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana on the second floor of Central School. The Arts and Humanities office is open Monday through Friday, and closes during the noon hour. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
The 11th season of Louisiana Crossroads will conclude when The McNeese Banners Cultural Series (www.banners.org) presents Buckwheat Zydeco & The Ils Sont Partis Band in the F.G. Bulber Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday March 25, 2011. For more information, please call (337) 491-9147 or visit www.cityoflakecharles.com.
