LMA Presents City of Lake Charles with Community
Achievement Award at Annual Convention
The City of Lake Charles was recently awarded the 2010 Community Achievement Award at the Louisiana Municipal Association's 74th annual convention held at the Shreveport Convention Center, August 4 through 6.
The City of Lake Charles won the award for its Lakefront Promenade and Bord du Lac Marina under the category of Economic Development and population group 25,001 and over.
A media release from the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA) announced that Lake Charles, along with the municipal governments of Abita Springs, Baker, Bossier City, Delhi, Gretna, Hornbeck, Kenner, Pineville, Plaquemine, Scott, and Vivian, "took home the Louisiana Municipal Association's most prestigious award for outstanding municipal improvements and accomplishments."
There were also honorable mentions awarded in each of the categories and in many of the population groups.
The media release stated: "The LMA's annual awards program recognizes municipalities for outstanding achievement in basic services, community development, and economic development. Within these categories, awards are presented in four population subcategories."
