LAKE CHARLES RECREATION AND PARKS ADULT SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL
2012 LEAGUE RULES
(UPDATED: January 29, 2012)
1.Governing Rules - the governing rules will be the Lake Charles Recreation Department Operating Code and the current ASA rule book
with the following exceptions:
2. Divisions Offered Home Run Limit
a. Men's Leagues

b. Church
2 home runs per game max and one-up rule applies
c. Industrial 2 home runs per game max and one-up rule applies
d. Coed
2 home runs per game max and one-up rule applies
e. Women's
2 home runs per game max and one-up rule applies
3. Home Runs: any home run hit over the limit will be an out. Except when the "One-up" rule is in effect.
Pitching: a 6-12 foot pitching arc will be used.
6.Line up / Score sheet:
a. a. The home team must furnish the official game scorekeeper and must obtain a score sheet from the on-site office.
b. b. The home tam will be predetermined on the schedule.
c. The score sheet must be turned in to the plate umpire immediately after the game.
d. Line ups must be turned in to the official scorer at least 15 minutes before game time.
7. Starting the Game:
a.Coed league may start with 9 players
with the 10th batting spot being an out. Of the 9 players, at least 4 must be of one gender. If only three players are of one gender
then, you may have only 9 defensive players, only nine batters with the 10th batting spot being an out and each inning starts with one out.
b. All other leagues may start with 8 players with the 9th batting spot being an out. When a game is started with only 9 players, the 10th spot is an out.
c. If a player is ejected, there must be a replacement for that player or the game will be declared a forfeit.
8.Run Rules: there will be a 12 run rule after 4 complete innings of play and a 10 run rule after 5 complete innings of play. The 15 run rule after 3 innings of play will not be in effect.
9.Game Length: games will be 1 hour, 7 innings or "run rule" whichever comes first. No new inning will start 1 hour from the start of the game, unless the game is tied.
10. Game Ball: teams will supply their own balls; a ball stamped .44 CORE or less ball must be used and a
maximum of 375 lbs .
11. Coed Rules:
a. DEFENSIVE POSITIONING: No restrictions
b. DEFENSIVE RESTRICTIONS: No defensive players (except the pitcher and catcher) may be closer to home plate than the base line until the ball is hit. No outfield defensive players may be within ten yards of the infield dirt
until the ball is hit. PENALTY: The batter automatically gets first base even if the ball is hit foul. If there are any
runners on base, they will advance one base.
All coed infield defensive restrictions still apply regardless of whether there are 9 or ten players

13. Eligilibility: All teams must submit their opening rosters by team's first playing date, no roster changes after May 18, 2012
1. Industrial League- players must have letter from employer verifying employment of all players
2. Church Leagues- players must have letter from their church verifying membership of all players
3. Open League- players may play on any other team except another open league team
4. Men's "D" and "E "Leagues- players cannot play in both "D" and "E" leagues.
5. Minors- Minors who were at least 16 must have a signed waiver from their parent on file with the league before they are eligible to play.
13. Awards- T-shirts will be awarded for first and second place finishes in league play.
Plaques will be awarded for first, second and third place in league play.
14. Tournament- LCRD will sponsor a league tournament in each division at the conclusion
of league play. Teams will be seeded according to regular season performance.
Plagues will awarded for Champion and Runner-up All teams who meet the
following criteria will be eligible (no additional fee) :
1. Team must not have forfeited three consecutive games during the season and must
and must not have forfeited five games during the entire season and team must
have not forfeited both of the last two games of the regular season.
15. NO REGULAR SEASON RAINOUTS WILL BE RESCHEDULED.
