Hole-by-Hole
Golfer Review from GolfLink.com
Mallard Cove - Lake Charles, LA Tuesday, August 21, 2012 Played this past Monday with an ex-coworker. Course in outstanding shape except for 2 things. A few greens had some bad spots, the rest of them were immaculate and putted true. Second, almost all the traps had standing water due to all the local rain lately. Best muni course I've played in 45 years of playing the game. Clubhouse staff, snack bar, and rangers all very polite and helpful. The pics in the hole by hole do not do this course any kind of justice at all!! Had a great time and hope to come back soon.

Good, fast Tifeagle greens. Great practice facilities, the grass all over the course is good. Some good hole designs, some not so good, but it can't get any better for a public course.

Nice course for a round with friends. Not as uptight as other courses, more relaxing. Not a lot of marshalls rushing you through a fun round with friends.

Extremely fair course. One of the best public venues in Louisiana without a doubt. Greens do get very nice just before the Lake Charles City Championship in summer. Clubhouse was damaged during Hurricane Rita and has yet to be reopened.

Mallard Cove - Lake Charles, LA
Greens in the summertime are the finest you will find along the Gulf Coast. Tif Eagle grass putts very smooth and they can be cut to play fast, but will still hold iron shots very well. Fairways are always in excellent condition with an intermediate cut of rough. Greenside rough is thick buy playable in most cases. At $25 with a cart, this is one of the best values you will find. Great fairways, rough not extreme, greens were fast but true. Afternoon Green Fee was very reasonable, pace of play was unbelievably good for 14 holes at least, last 4 still reasonable. Excellent cart paths.
Yes, I recommend this course.
