FEMA contractors are currently in the City of Lake Charles performing Substantial Damage Assessments on both residential and non-residential structures. Inspections will take place Monday-Saturday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., and will take approximately two weeks to complete.

Contractors will be wearing a visible photo badge that identifies them as a FEMA contractor. They will also have a signed letter from the City of Lake Charles to provide to property owners. Additionally, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, contractors will not be entering structures and they will be wearing masks. Inspections will take approximately 30 minutes for residential properties and 30 to 90 minutes for non-residential building.

Following impacts from Hurricanes Laura and Delta, these inspections are necessary per the City of Lake Charles’ Floodplain Management Ordinance dated December 15, 2010, and apply to all structures within the 100-year floodplain for the City of Lake Charles.

For more information on the inspection process, please call 337-491-1542, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
