Mayor Nic Hunter Announces New Staff
On Mon., Aug. 8, Mayor Nic Hunter held a news conference to announce the newest members of his staff. Kimberly Dellafosse will serve as Assistant City Administrator, while Karen Hardy will serve as Administrative Assistant.
Dellafosse has more than twenty years’ experience in management, healthcare and public relations. She most recently was employed by Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital as the School-Based Health Center Registered Nurse. In the past five years, she has launched three new pediatric health promotion programs and served as the designated trainer for registered nurses hired through the School Based Health Center.
Before that, she served as president of Crimson Media Enterprises and worked with several companies to increase their digital media presence and grow their brand on a national level. She is a Dillard University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and was selected by the VA Medical Center as the Registered Nurse of the Year.
“As a respected nurse, manager, and community organizer, Kimberly will use her problem-solving abilities, creativity and business acumen to help bring the Mayor’s Office to the next level,” said Mayor Hunter.
Hardy is a Lake Charles native and has spent nearly twenty years working for various education systems in Lake Charles, including the Calcasieu Parish School Board, the Diocese of Lake Charles, and the Lake Charles Charter School. Most recently she was employed as the Safety Administration Official for Burrow Global at Phillips 66.
She is a graduate of Southern University Baton Rouge A&M and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education, a Bachelor of General Studies from McNeese State University, and two master’s degrees from McNeese State University in educational technology and instructional technology.
Hardy is involved in many community organizations such as Kiwanis North, Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. and the McNeese Alumni Association. For twenty-two years, she has served the Tournament of the Stars as a board member and coordinator of events.
“Karen has been working in the Mayor’s Office for a little more than ten days now, and I’m pleased to say that her willingness to assist the public and her attention to detail make me proud to have her as a part of my administration,” said Mayor Hunter.
Several other employees will continue to serve in the Office of the Mayor. City Administrator John Cardone, Public Information Officer Matt Young, Director of Cultural Affairs Denise Fasske, Project Specialist Katie Harrington, Network Specialist Julie Pippin, Administrative Assistant Dee LaBorde, and File Clerk Virgie Derouen.
