At the February 1 meeting of the Lake Charles City Council, a resolution by the City Council was approved declaring Lock Park a “Family Friendly Zone” during all 2017 Mardi Gras parade activities.  The resolution requests the Lake Charles Police Department to enforce the provisions of the Code of Ordinances of the City that prohibit the possession, consumption or sale of alcoholic beverages in parks within the City and prohibit parking within the Lock Park grounds during the 2017 Mardi Gras parades.

“It’s important for us to reemphasize our City’s commitment to making the celebration of Mardi Gras a family friendly event,” said Mayor Randy Roach. “We want everyone to enjoy the City parks during Mardi Gras, and we will do our part to ensure that Lock Park and the other City parks provide a safe, fun atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.”
