The City of Lake Charles, in partnership with the Lake Charles North Redevelopment Authority, made 61 new adjudicated properties available for public auction on CivicSource.com. All adjudicated properties for sale at CivicSource.com went unsold in a previous tax sale. By hosting the sale online, bidders who would normally be unable to attend the auction in person are able to participate from their homes or places of business. The sales return blighted, abandoned or tax-delinquent properties to commerce while regenerating significant annual tax revenues to the City.

There are currently 153 properties in Lake Charles listed for sale at CivicSource.com. This week, CivicSource-branded “For Sale” yard signs are being placed on each adjudicated property to notify residents that the lot is eligible for auction. The City of Lake Charles hosted their first adjudicated property auction through CivicSource® in February of 2017. Thirty-four properties were sold and returned to commerce last year, resulting in over $45,000 in restored tax revenue for the City.

“It is going to take strong partnerships and resources to restore and revitalize our community and CivicSource has proven to be one of those partnerships,” explained Craig Marks, President of the Lake Charles North Redevelopment Authority. “It’s up to us, the citizens, to do our part by purchasing and developing these properties.”

“By allowing Civic Source access to additional properties, this administration will turn blight and stagnation into commerce and housing, re-energizing this community,” said Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter. “Our goal is to work with residents to attract quality development, bring new life, and create economic opportunity in the north Lake Charles area.”
