Citys Popular Teen Connection Series Returns for Fall Semester
On Thursday, October 10 at 5 p.m., the City of Lake Charles’ popular Teen Connection series will begin its third year at Cpl Donald Ray Stevens Community Center (1619 Cessford St.). There is no charge to attend and the topic for the session is The Ideal Scholarship Application.
Attending college is not a cheap venture and knowing where to look and how to apply for financial aid can be overwhelming.
This Teen Connection session will dive into how students can complete the ideal scholarship application in order to maximize their chances of finding success in being selected for scholarships.
On Thursday, October 17, from 5-6 p.m., Teen Connection will focus on ACT Math Prep. The ACT October national testing date is just around the corner and this free session is the perfect opportunity for your teen to brush up on their test-taking skills and gain some helpful tips for putting their best foot forward on the math portion of this college-admittance exam. This free session will also be held at Cpl Donald Ray Stevens Community Center.
Additional topics slated for the fall semester include The Skill to Heal: Careers in Healthcare, The Elite Athlete’s Secret to Achievement, Performance and Recruitment, Simple Strategies to Improve your Writing Skills and How to Choose a College Major.
In October 2017, the City of Lake Charles began hosting the free Teen Connection seminars for teenagers, 13 to 18 years old, in Calcasieu Parish. Teen Connection is designed to help teenagers learn job skills, college prep, social media, interview skills, and ACT prep among others. The classes are instructed by educators, government officials, and business leaders in the community.
