Teen Connection Returns this Week to Focus on How to Choose a College Major
On Thursday, December 12 at 5 p.m., the fall semester of the City of Lake Charles’ popular Teen Connection series will wrap up with a free session titled How to Choose a College Major from 5-6 p.m. at Ward 3 Huber Park Community Center (2401 4th Avenue).
One of the most stressful decisions for many high school students comes along with selecting a college major. With so many options available it can be very overwhelming. This session will help students explore the many different options when it comes to choosing a college major.
Teen Connection is on the move and we are proud to team up with Ward 3 Recreation to present this seminar at Huber Park Community Center.
Teen Connection will return for the spring semester on Thursday, January 9, with a session titled Be Your Own Boss: Start Your Own Business. Other topics slated for the spring include careers in technology, unique, relatively unknown jobs, financial literacy and more.
In October 2017, the City of Lake Charles began hosting the free Teen Connection seminars for teenagers, 13 to 18 years old. Teen Connection is designed to help teenagers learn job skills, college prep, social media, interview skills, and ACT prep among others. The classes are instructed by educators, government officials, and business leaders in the community.
Teen Connection is presented by the City of Lake Charles and is sponsored by Lake City Trucking, Porche Plumbing and Piping, Pat Williams Construction, Wendell White, Inc., Pedersen Auto Title Co., GMFS Lending, Hawkins Legal (Attorney Tara Hawkins), Citadel Completions, Taco Bell, Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Popeyes, Leonard’s Food Quarters, Mr. Gatti’s, Outback Steakhouse and Paul’s Ribshack.
