Due to current conditions, the City will be unable to host its annual Light Up the Lake Christmas Festival. Recognizing the need to provide some much needed holiday cheer, we invite families to grab a cup of hot cocoa, turn up the Christmas carols and drive down Bord du Lac Drive and the Gill Street Extension on the Lake Charles Civic Center grounds to view a colorful display of holiday lights!

Residents are also reminded to join the City for its ongoing cultural series “Art 6-Feet Apart,” which continues on December 3 at 5 p.m. in Ten Pin Alley with a live art demonstration featuring Julie Dallas, Julie Groth and Danny Allain. Then on December 4 at 5 p.m., Lake Area Ballet Theater’s senior company members will perform snippets from “The Nutcracker” on the front plaza at Historic City Hall, and Barbe High School’s Drama Club will perform “Hairspray” at the Transit Center’s pavilion on December 5 at 5 p.m. A Christmas brass ensemble by the Lake Charles Community Band will wrap up the series on December 12 at 5 p.m. at the Transit Center. Pre-registration for these events is encouraged. Click here to register. The City is also reminding residents to shop local this year by partnering with the Arts and Humanities Council of SWLA to host a holiday art market on December 5 from 9 to 7 p.m. at Historic City Hall.
