Hurricane Debris Pickup Update
FEMA approved the removal of commercial debris piles along public rights-of-way on both local and state roadways until February 28, 2021.
The City of Lake Charles’ debris removal contractors concluded their commercial debris pickup program on Sunday, February 28, 2021.
As of today, Monday, March 1, removal of any commercial debris is the responsibility of the property owner.
Residential debris is still being collected and a cut-off date has not yet been set, but residents should move any remaining debris to the roadway by the end of March.
Residents should also avoid pushing debris into locations that will negatively impact drainage, such as ditches, or create visual hazards for motorists. Debris should not be placed on top of utility meters.
