City of Lake Charles to Hold Tuten Park

          Grand Opening and Arbor Day Celebration

 

The City of Lake Charles will hold a grand opening and Arbor Day celebration for the newly renovated Tuten Park, 3751 Nelson Road, on Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

At 9 a.m. there will be a grand opening ceremony followed by a tree planting ceremony.

 

Interactive booths for the public to visit throughout the celebration will include the following: McNeese State University, Team Green of Southwest Louisiana, Junior Team Green, Lake Charles Garden Club, Diggers and Weeders Garden Club of Lake Charles, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of Louisiana Pines to the Gulf, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Home Depot, Calcasieu Parish Public Schools, the Louisiana Urban Forestry Council and City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks.

 

A variety of activities will be offered at the event, including a nature scavenger hunt, a hydrological cycle demonstration, workshops to create bird feeders and planter boxes, tree experiments, and wildlife displays. Also, the City's "reTREE LC" program will be giving out 50 trees and T-shirts.

 

The public is encouraged to attend.
