The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation

Donates to the First Lieutenant Douglas B. Fournet Memorial

The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation recently donated $5,000 to the First Lieutenant Douglas B. Fournet Memorial Fund of the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana.

The donation will be used in support of a project to erect a statue of First Lieutenant Douglas B. Fournet for Veterans Memorial Park.  Fournet, a native of Lake Charles, was awarded the Medal of Honor, posthumously in April of 1970, for his selfless act of sacrifice in May of 1968 during the Vietnam War.

Said Mayor Randy Roach, co-chair, Mayor's Committee for the First Lieutenant Douglas B. Fournet Memorial:

"We thank The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation for the wonderful donation, which will be used for the First Lieutenant Douglas B. Fournet Memorial.  The statue of First Lieutenant Fournet will honor him and all of our veterans who have honorably served our country."
