Hundreds of thousands of children nationwide, including here in Lake Charles, will take part in a grassroots movement to discover America’s parks through play on Saturday, May 20, to commemorate Kids to Parks Day.

A commemorative Kids to Parks Day is being planned for Lake Charles at Millennium Park, Bord Du Lac Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Activities will include face painting, balloons, fun jumps, train rides, Hula Hoop contests, splash pads, along with free snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy.

Mayor Randy Roach recently proclaimed Kids to Parks Day in Lake Charles and encourages locals to participate by exploring Millennium Park and other public parks within the city.

“Our parks and recreation areas, located in various neighborhoods throughout the city, give kids of all ages a place to enjoy the outdoors. I invite all Lake Charles residents to join me on May 20 for Kids to Parks Day,” said Mayor Roach.

Everyone is invited to this and all other City of Lake Charles parks and outdoor spaces. Visit the City of Lake Charles website www.cityoflakecharles.com for more information.
