Because of expected icy road conditions, the City of Lake Charles is suspending Transit service today Tuesday, January 16 beginning at 4 p.m. Weather permitting, Transit service will resume tomorrow Wednesday, January 17 as soon as roads are safe to navigate. Riders should monitor local news coverage for service-related updates.

Trash and garbage pickup will not run tomorrow Wednesday, January 17, due to the fact that area landfill operations are closed. Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be picked up on Thursday, January 18. Thursday pickups will occur on Friday, and Friday pickups will occur on Saturday this week only. 

The City of Lake Charles monthly meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission that was scheduled for today at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers is cancelled. The next meeting will occur on February 19 at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers.         

Residents are urged to take caution while driving due to the possibility of ice that is not visible. All public safety employees and public works crews will be continuously monitoring street conditions.
