Boil Water Advisory Issued for Customers Along Portions of Broad and Cherry Streets
The City of Lake Charles Water Division is issuing a precautionary boil water advisory for Broad Street between, 4th and 8th Avenues, and Cherry Street, between Mill and Broad Streets. Contractors working in the area inadvertently ruptured a water main, which has since been repaired. However, water pressure in the area dipped below the required level. The residents have been notified by city personnel.
The boil water advisory is expected to continue throughout the day tomorrow. The City of Lake Charles will rescind the boil water advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health that additional water samples collected from its water supply system have shown the water to be safe.
It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it, including making ice, brushing teeth, using it for food preparation or rinsing foods by boiling the water for one full minute in a clean container. The recommended one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. This advisory does not affect showering or bathing.
