Community Connection Returns with September Workshops
Community Connection returns to Huber Recreation Center (2124 14th Street) next week on Thursday, September 12, with a free workshop titled “Financial Freedom through Good Budgeting and Thinking Long Term.” The workshop will be held from 6-7 p.m.
Much like the City’s successful Teen Connection series, launched in October 2017, Community Connection is a series of free, one-hour workshops. Attendees will be entered into a raffle to win a brand-new laptop computer.
The three month series, launched in July 2019, will wrap up on Thursday, September 26, with a session at Epps Memorial Library (1320 North Simmons St.) titled “I can do This! Ladders are Made for Climbing!”
“There has been much conversation in recent years about the economic boom our area is experiencing, but one thing we hear quite frequently is that many of our citizens are unsure of how they can benefit and improve their own lives on the heels of this growth,” said Mayor Nic Hunter. “Community Connection will focus on providing real, practical information on topics such as landing a better job, gaining financial independence, leveraging banking and a good credit score to improve your personal bottom line, encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit, and much more.”
Complete details on the program, including a full, printable schedule, and registration link to guarantee a seat at the workshop can be found at www.cityoflakecharles.com/communityconnection.
Community Connection is presented in partnership with the Calcasieu Parish Public Library, Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, Project Build a Future, United Way of Southwest Louisiana, Hancock Whitney Bank and the Lake Charles Education Collaborative.
