The City of Lake Charles Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission will host the City’s annual Veterans Day Celebration at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, November 9, beginning at 11:30 a.m. 

The program will feature patriotic music from the Lake Charles Community Band and a brief history of Chennault International Airport and the important role the complex played during World War II.

A family picnic with hamburgers and hot dogs provided by Louisiana Mortgage Associates will follow the ceremony on the south side of the park. The picnic will also feature a Kids Zone provided by the City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks Department, live music from the Jason Stutes Band, a performance by the McNeese State University Cowgirl Kickers and a visit from Gumbeaux Gator. The Louisiana Army Explorers will have a display of military vehicles for guests to view and Seven Slot Society will also be lined up to salute Veterans and show off their Jeeps.

The day’s events are free and open to the public and attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and/or picnic blanket to enjoy a day in Veterans Memorial Park.
