In accordance with federal, state and local emergency declarations to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the City of Lake Charles provides this update regarding City operations.
In support of the decrees issued by Governor John Bel Edwards on Sunday, March 22, 2020 under Proclamation Number 33 JBE 2020, the City of Lake Charles is instituting the following changes to its day-to-day operations.
City services, including public safety, transit, and garbage and trash collection, remain in operation. Some modifications to transit service are being made to ensure that the service remains in compliance with Governor Edwards’ directive preventing gatherings of 10 or more. The number of riders on each bus will be limited and the City is working with a local vendor to sanitize the buses throughout the day.
All City buildings and facilities, including City Hall, Historic City Hall, Central School and City recreation centers will be closed to the public beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Service at the Team Green Recycling Drop-off Center and the roving Green Truck Recycling Operation are also suspended until further notice.
As a reminder, many City services, such as water bill payments and permit applications, can be completed securely online at www.cityoflakecharles.com or by contacting the appropriate department via telephone.
The City will continuously re-evaluate this status and provide regular updates as they occur.

With few exceptions, all City services, including public safety, transit, and garbage and trash collection, remain in operation as usual.
