Partners in Parks, Nature in Focus Dragonfly Discussion Planned
On Saturday, July 3, from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m., a free, educational discussion about dragonflies is set to take place at Riverside Park, 1700 Fitzenreiter Rd.
The ultimate predator of mosquitoes, dragonflies are an important link in the food chain. Featuring keynote speaker Irvin Louque, attendees will learn about the amazing adaptations of dragonflies, including migration, hunting behavior and the best ways to observe them.
Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars and/or camera, as weather permitting; the group will look for dragonflies along the banks of the Calcasieu River.
About Partners in Parks and Nature in Focus.
In July of 2018, the City of Lake Charles launched its citywide Partners in Parks initiative, through the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana, in an effort to encourage the investment of private and public dollars to improve park infrastructure and expand programming.
Nature in Focus, launched under the umbrella of Partners in Parks, is a partnership with Sasol to highlight the natural beauty of, and to provide educational programming at, the City’s nature sanctuaries located at Tuten and Riverside Parks in the City of Lake Charles.
