The City of Lake Charles, in partnership with the Northrop Grumman is hosting a #ReTreeLC Tree Giveaway this Saturday, March 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at Hillcrest Park (2808 Hillcrest Dr.).

The tree giveaway will be a drive through event. Participants should enter Hillcrest Park off of Highway 14 via 12th Street. They will make the loop around the park, approaching the tree giveaway where volunteers will be on hand to load the free trees.

“This event marks the conclusion of Phase II of #ReTreeLC,” said Mayor Nic Hunter. “Since launching the initiative in December 2021, more than 3,000 trees have been replanted throughout the City. This has been a vitally important program for helping us restore the City’s natural tree canopy with resilient, native trees following the devastating effects of Hurricanes Laura and Delta. We are thankful to Northrop Grumman for helping us make this giveaway possible and appreciate all of our community partners who have made Phases I and II of #ReTreeLC a resounding success.”

Thanks to Northrop Grumman’s partnership 1,000 trees will be given away, first come, first serve. Varieties include one-gallon Water Oak, Live Oak, Bald Cypress, American Elm and Green Ash trees.

“Northrop Grumman is pleased to support this program to restore the Lake Charles tree canopy with native trees that will enhance the quality of life for all the citizens of Lake Charles,” added Eric Price, Northrop Grumman Maintenance and Fabrication Solutions Site Director.
