The City of Lake Charles Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division offers the following update on trash and garbage collection following last week’s winter storm event.

Crews resumed their collection routes on Friday, January 24, 2025, after suspending services for the majority of the week due to icy road conditions and operations being suspended at the landfill and transfer stations as a result of the storm.

Crews worked into the evening on Friday, January 24, and until 5:30 pm on Saturday, January 25, to complete Friday’s routes and to begin collecting Monday’s routes.

Crews are currently working to finish collecting Monday’s routes and as time allows today, will start the process of collecting Tuesday’s routes. They will work until dark.

On Tuesday, January 28, crews will complete Tuesday’s routes and begin collecting Thursday’s routes with the goal of completing Thursday’s routes by the end of the day on Wednesday.

Residents are advised to move their cans and any trash to the roadside and reassured that crews will get every household serviced as quickly and as safely as possible.

City Solid Waste crews thank the community for their patience throughout this process and request their continued patience as they work daily until dark in an effort to catch up on solid waste collection.
