Lake Charles Police Department to Host Free National Night Out Community Event
On Tuesday, August 5, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., the Lake Charles Police Department and City of Lake Charles will host a free National Night Out Community Event at the Lake Charles Event Center (900 Lakeshore Dr.).
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet officers from the department and other local public safety agencies, view and participate in demonstrations from the various agencies, including SWAT, Crime Scene Investigations, Traffic Motorcycles and more. Free resources and information from a variety of vendors will also be available.
National Night Out will also feature a jambalaya cook-off, with free servings while supplies last, activities for children, giveaways, and more. Fun jumps, a car show, and food trucks for concession purchases will round out the National Night Out celebration.
“Our National Night Out Community Event provides citizens with the opportunity to meet and interact with officers from our many divisions in one location, while gathering important information about a variety of resources available to them,” said Lake Charles Police Chief Shawn Caldwell. “It’s a chance for us to hear citizens' concerns and allows us to build stronger police-community relationships.”
Communities nationwide host National Night Out events on the first Tuesday of August every year with the goal of enhancing the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement by bringing residents and police officers together under positive circumstances.
Additional sponsors of LCPD’s National Night Out Community Event include Albertson’s, Coca Cola, Target, Glad Tidings Church, Lake Charles Event Center, Market Basket, Patel McDonald’s and Palm Tree Party Rentals.
