City of Lake Charles Offers Update on Recycling Operations and Items Accepted
The City of Lake Charles and Team Green are providing an update on the City’s recycling operations and items accepted at recycling drop-off locations citywide.
This update includes the drop-off centers and the roving Green Truck.
Drop-off stations are located at 4331 E. Broad Street (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and on Alma Lane behind the Nelson Ball Field (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.).
The Green Truck Recycling schedule is as follows:
Monday: Walmart – North Hwy. 171 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Tuesday: Nelson Ball Field, Alma Lane 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Wednesday: Lake Charles Event Center 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Thursday: Albertsons – Ryan and Sale Road 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Saturday: Walmart – Hwy. 14 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Saturday: Prien Lake Mall 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Items accepted include aluminum cans, tin cans, envelopes, bills, shredded paper, computer paper, newspapers, boxes, cardboard and a limited amount of No. 1 and No. 2 plastics. E-waste is not accepted. Items can be brought in plastic bags, but these bags cannot be left at the recycling drop-off site. Grocery bags are not accepted.
Team Green reminds the community to keep food and liquids out of recyclables, and to come learn more about the recycling process at the Summer of Sustainability Workshop taking place on Tuesday, August 19, from 5:30 – 6:30 pm at Drew Park (416 Dr. Michael DeBakey Dr.)
