The City of Lake Charles is announcing Halloween activities for the month of October 2025.
Events kick off on Friday, Oct. 3, with a Sasol Nature in Focus Bat Walk from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Riverside Park (1701 Fitzenreiter Rd.). Grab your flashlight and walking shoes and meet us for a walk through the park, searching for these nocturnal creatures.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 am – noon, head out to Bark du Lac Park (111 West Pine St.) for a tail-wagging good time. The City, through its Partners in Parks Initiative, is teaming up with Gill Bright Animal Hospital for its third annual Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day.
 
Canines and their owners are invited to put on their best Halloween costume and compete for prizes.
All dogs must be current on vaccinations, arrive on a leash, non-aggressive and not currently in heat. Owners must clean up after their pets.
Also on Saturday, Oct. 11, Historic City Hall (1001 Ryan St.) will play host to a fantastic Fall Fest from 8 am - noon. Shop the Charlestown Farmers Market and participate in a number of free, fall-themed activities. Music and a car show will also round out this event.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, head on over to Central School (809 Kirby St.) from 5:30 - 7:30 pm for Grove on the Green. Bring your lawn chair, ice chest and friends join us on the lawn chair to enjoy sounds by Mark Portier Trio. A food truck will be available for concession purchases. 
On Saturday, Oct. 18, head out to Grace & Medora Park (2720 Medora St.) for a Spooktacular Art in the Park from 10 am - noon. Flex your creative skills with painting and fun arts and crafts. Don't forget to wear your costume!
Take a tour of The Great Pumpkin Trail at Tuten Park (3801 Nelson Rd.) from 9 am – 7 pm daily Friday,  Oct. 24 through Sunday, Oct. 26. Be sure to bring your camera to snap photos along the way!
New this year, head on over to the Ghostport Haunted House at Goosport Park (1619 Cessford St.) on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 6 - 8 pm. Put on your costume and creep and crawl through our cardboard maze!
 
The City of Lake Charles’ will once again partner with Prien Lake Mall (496 E. Prien Lake Rd.) to provide a safe Halloween experience for the entire family on Friday, Oct. 31.
The Boo-Tastic Bash will feature a mall-wide trick-or-treat, from 5-7 p.m. Children are invited to come in costume to scour the mall and its retailers for candy, while supplies last. 
The City recommends that trick-or-treat activities end at 8 p.m. that evening. Parents are encouraged to have their children home by 8:30 p.m. unless they are attending a supervised function sponsored by other parents or civic organizations.
