The City of Lake Charles will observe the Christmas Holiday on Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, and the New Year’s Holiday on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. The following adjustments will be made to garbage and trash collection and Public Works services:

Christmas Holiday Collection Schedule

  • Monday and Tuesday routes: No changes.
  • Thursday routes: Will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 24, beginning at 6 a.m. All cans must be curbside by 6 a.m.
  • Friday routes: Will be collected Saturday, Dec. 27.

Recycling and Wood Waste Services:

  • The Wood Waste Facility, Team Green Recycling Truck, and Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Stations will be closed Dec. 25–26 and reopen Saturday, Dec. 27 under normal hours.
  • On Wednesday, Dec. 24, the Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Station will close early at 3 p.m.

New Year’s Holiday Collection Schedule

  • Monday and Tuesday routes: No changes.
  • Thursday routes: Will be collected Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
  • Friday routes: Will be collected Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.

Recycling and Wood Waste Services:

  • All facilities will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, and normal operations will resume on Friday, Jan. 2.

Additional Reminders

  • Residents are responsible for cleaning any spillage around their containers.
  • Live Christmas trees may be placed curbside with all decorations and lights removed.
  • A Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-off event will take place Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Station.

City Office Closures

  • Lake Charles City Hall and all Public Works services will be closed Dec. 25–26, reopening Monday, Dec. 29.
  • Offices will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, and will resume normal hours Friday, Jan. 2.
