Our focus remains on efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring access to resources for our most vulnerable populations. Many are struggling right now and we encourage anyone in need of assistance, to contact 211.

Today, we wanted to take a moment to check in on another sector of our community.

There's little doubt that art, no matter the medium, soothes the soul. Today local artists find themselves facing cancelled or postponed performances, conventions, festivals, shuttered galleries, theaters and more. Social media is leading the way, however, in providing some unique, new ways for artists to connect with us all and provide a little sunshine during these uncertain times.

Today Nic Hunter Lake Charles Mayor spoke, while maintaining #socialdistance, with representatives from Banners at McNeese State University, the Arts & Humanities Council of SWLA and Historic City Hall Arts and Cultural Center to learn more about how these groups are working together to support the vibrant arts community that makes Southwest Louisiana so special.
